About

Sydney is my home and muse. A modern city and young culture confronting a past of ancient songlines. A place that began life as a prison, spun up on stolen land, now boasting extraordinary wealth.

Ten years spent in London taught me how cities can be more vibrant and liveable. Great global cities get the big rocks right. Formative years inspiring many ideas on how to think about my own home town.

My writing builds a pastiche of Sydney, whilst also providing me catharthis. For just as Sydney carries a vast array of enthralling stories, it can also be painfully skin deep. A city that can strut with confidence while at the same time glancing around insecurely.

This is interesting.

I also explore other topics too – such as housing affordability, the impact of technology, artificial intelligence, the importance of culture & art and being a modern man.

Joseph is also Co-Founder of the Keep Sydney Open political party.
